one of the best dress-up parties i've ever attended has to be the roald dahl party my canadian friends hosted. it started off with an awesome invitation just like willy wonka's golden ticket!

music // danco aka @dannhume

yes, it's another one of those posts where i gush about one of my insanely talented muso friends. today is all about danco, or as some of you may know him - dann hume, or even "the drummer/occasional singer in evermore". he's a songwriter, drummer, guitarist, and now a pretty damn fine producer - he's worked with lisa mitchell and alpine to name drop a few.

dann was kind enough to put me on the door for his support gig with lisa mitchell last week and you could tell he was having fun on stage (minus the drunk lady who kept yelling at him to take off his pants). we talked about my blog and he suggested i link it to my twitter since he follows that... but well, yeah i do that already. so now i've purposefully tagged it with his twitter just to be obnoxious. so if you're reading this... HI DANN!

also, i am totally obsessed with his song "three in the morning". i woke up with it stuck in my head, so that's just how catchy it is!

design // sony music office in london

4 Nov 2012

This is by far, one of the coolest design projects I've seen. It was commissioned for the Sony office in London (right near where my old housemate works) and it combines two things I really love: music and typography.
The Sony Music Timeline by Alex Fowkes celebrates 125 years of musical history covering almost 150 square meters of wall space in Sony’s Derry Street headquarters. Using just CNC cut vinyl as the sole medium, 54 columns measuring over 2 meters tall cover feature nearly 1000 of Sony Music's signed artists from 1887 to the present day.
I can't even really say much more about it without doing some serious gushing, but watch the videos and look at the photos. I wish I could see it in real life! Maybe I'll be able to wrangle a peek when I visit  London next...
