lancome x lanvin // alber elbaz

"I love coffee, but I always say not everything has to be instant." - Alber Elbaz

One of my favourite fashion brands Lanvin (I did line up from 6am to get my Lanvin x H&M yellow dress) has collaborated with one of my favourite cosmetics brands Lancome (I only used to buy Juicy Tubes). BOOM. Amazingness. Alber Elbaz is one of the sweetest men alive and if you haven't seen him, you really need to check him out. He's designed a collection for Lancome with a strong focus on the eyes, because that's what his impression of fashion is... Peeking out from behind a curtain at a sea of faces and eyes. I also made a gif from the collection's video because, well, I love gifs.

We arrived to a bottle of sparkling water (my favourite!) and a talk with Lara, Lancome's national make up artist, about the collection. I volunteered to be a model and then got to sit down for the rest of the time and get prettified! Lara did an amazing job on my slightly tired face and we went out to dinner afterwards to celebrate (a) my face and (b) my new permanent job! Hurrah!

Here's the gorgeous video Alber created (presumably with his team. One cannot be a crazy talented designer and artist and video editor and cartoonist, surely!):

music // lyric videos pt 2

21 Jul 2013

Part two of my lyric videos has been a looong time coming, considering how old the first couple of songs are now. Whoopsies! Anyhoo, here's some more smashin' lyric videos of songs I like. So that's a lotta pop music and John Mayer.

cory monteith // you will be missed

17 Jul 2013

I just watched the above video and had a bit of a teary. My housemate and I were discussing how we were sad about Heath Ledger, but weren't that emotionally invested in him, but we've watched Glee together whether we've lived in London or Australia. I'd designate nights to watch it with friends and even watched it with my Dad when I was living at home. Cory Monteith was always my favourite. It seemed like he was trying so hard to get his life back on track and it's such a tragedy. I am so so sad for his family, friends and Lea Michele. Cory, you will be missed.

2012_08_04 Brighton

"Ohhh I want to go to Brighton!" I always remember Julia Sawalha as Lydia Bennett whining about following the soldiers to Brighton in Pride & Prejudice. (Speaking of, there's a giant wet shirted Mr Darcy in Hyde Park!) So one slightly cloudy Saturday, we did go to Brighton. Here's our adventures wandering around town and eating some very delicious lunch (and later, afternoon tea) at vegetarian restaurant Terre a Terre.

giveaway // zinio digital magazine subscriptions

1 Jul 2013

Exciting news peeps... I'm running my very first giveaway! I don’t often get contacted from companies about products or giveaways (although I did get something about a sailing day? Riiight) so when Zinio got in touch, I thought, "why not?". This is something I would like and maybe others would like too.

Zinio is a multi-platform distributing service for over 5,500 online magazines. So you can view your new mag on your computer, mobile or tablet. The Zinio app runs on most mobile devices and computers, so you’re covered whether you’re an Apple, Android or Windows user. This sounds like a good excuse for me to get an iPad...

Anyway, they’ve given me 10 yearly subscriptions, woohoo! I’m going to keep one for myself, because I need something to read on my commute to work, but that means I have NINE to giveaway!

Entry details:
Please leave a comment below so I know to look out for an email from you, and then email fourzerofiveblog[@]gmail.com with your first and last name, email address and title of the magazine you’d like a subscription for. Entries close next Friday 9th July at 11:59pm AEDT. I’ll pick 9 winners and let you know via email the following week!
